Welcome to the Sturge Conservation Studio home page. The studio specialises in the conservation and restoration of leather, but also offers services such as the lifting of Roman mosaics and wall plaster, the treatment of general antiquities archaeological material, the making of replicas, and training courses. If the work you need is outside the scope of the studio we will do our best to advise on alternatives. Theo Sturge is a Fellow of the International Institute of Conservation (FIIC), an Accredited member of the Institute of Conservation (ACR) and a Specialist Member (leather) of the British Antique Furniture Restorers' Association. He has over 30 years experience in both the private sector and museums. He has published widely on leather conservation, and on the restoration of wall plaster and mosaics. Published work The studio works for the National Trust, members of the Historic Houses Association, major Museums such as Birmingham Museums and Art Gallery, and a wide range of private clients both in the UK and in the USA. Theo Sturge teaches conservation both in the UK and abroad. As well as running his own traing courses, he has recently taught at Oslo University, Gothenburg University, EVETEK Finland, and the Canadian Institute for Conservation (CAC). |
